United legend accuses Rooney of childish mentality

Former Manchester United star Paddy Crerand has accused Wayne Rooney of acting like a child.

The 1968 European Cup winner with United, and now a pundit on the club’s MUTV station, also accused Rooney of being controlled by the striker’s agent, Paul Stretford.

Crerand said: “If you are happy ­somewhere why cause all these problems?

“Wayne’s 24, he’s still a kid at heart, maybe mentally as well. Is he being led by people like his agent?

“Sometimes at 24 or 25, you have the mentality of a 15-year-old – but you [should] listen to the manager.

“The manager is very disappointed [with Wayne] and I feel the same way.”
