Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is suffering a new headache after an injury to striker Manucho.
The Angola international reported for pre-season training with a suspected fractured metatarsal.
He was on the verge of starting his career at Old Trafford, having joined in January but then being sent on loan to Panathinaikos.
Manucho, 25, was scheduled to play in United's tour of South Africa and make a bid for a place in the first team.
He will go for X-rays to assess the damage and may be out for weeks, losing the chance to prove to Fergie he can save him a fortune in the transfer market.
