Mario Balotelli had a training ground punch up with teammate Jerome Boateng yesterday.
The Manchester City bad-boy was incensed by an over-zealous tackle on him by Boateng at City’s Carrington training ground.
Balotelli had to be held back and given a stern lecture by City boss Roberto Mancini as tempers boiled over in the freezing conditions.
Striker Balotelli was ready to walk out on the training session, but Mancini hauled back the 20-year-old and persuaded him to stay.
An eye-witness to the incient said: “Balotelli was really angry at the tackle on him and went into a major sulk. He tried to walk off but Mancini had to physically hold him back with both arms.
“Balotelli wasn’t happy at all and wanted to quit training there and then, but Mancini managed to persuade him to finish the session with the rest of the squad.”
Balotelli and Boateng eventually made up and shook hands. Despite the incident, Balotelli is expected to partner City captain Carlos Tevez up front for today’s Premier League game with Bolton at Eastlands.
But Balotelli is no stranger to controversy. The Italian forward, who has scored five goals in six appearances for City, has already been sent off this season, at West Brom.
Back in his native Italy, Balotelli was frequently in trouble at Inter Milan, clashing with team-mates, fans and former boss Jose Mourinho, who described him as being “unmanageable”.
