Mark Lawrenson : Liverpool and Everton must ground-share

Mark Lawrenson has urged Liverpool to ground-share a new stadium with archrivals Everton - or risk falling even further behind the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.
Liverpool have run into difficulty finding funding for their planned new stadium in Stanley Park and Everton's hopes of moving to Kirkby have been hit by the plans being called in for a public inquiry.
Both clubs and their fans have previously opposed calls for the rivals to share a stadium.
But Reds legend and Match of the Day pundit Lawro said: "The Liverpool stadium project is a massive concern when you consider it's still nowhere near being sorted.
"I've heard whispers in recent weeks that Liverpool might now consider redeveloping Anfield further because it would be cheaper than building a new ground.
"But I'm of the opinion that Liverpool and Everton should ground-share in Stanley Park. Why not? It would be so much more cost-effective and you could have blue seats on one side of the ground and red seats on the other.
"We need that new stadium to compete financially with the likes of Arsenal and Man United. Until it's built the club is just treading water."
