Mark Yeates on his way to Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is ready to make Colchester winger Mark Yeates his first signing for his promotion bid.

Yeates is in talks with Boro about a bargain £350,000 move to the Riverside as a potential long-term successor to Stewart Downing. The 24-year-old is also wanted by Bristol City.
