Gareth Barry can join Liverpool - with Martin O'Neill's angry blessing.
After sanctioning the £18million move, O'Neill said: "It's as clear as daylight that Gareth wants to go and Liverpool now have as long as they like to find the money.
"The chairman and myself are both disappointed but that is the way it is. Liverpool will get their wish and Gareth will get his wish.
"There is no point in pretending and it is up to Liverpool and Gareth now - but in the meantime I have a football team to manage."
