David Bentley and Darren Bent last night showed Spurs they don't need Andrei Arshavin as the club cooled their interest in the Russian.
Hot-shot Bent notched his eighth goal in three games while £17million Bentley came on after the break in Rotterdam to open his account late in the game. Spurs have now called off their pursuit of Euro 2008 forward Arshavin because of Zenit St Petersburg's £24m valuation.
But Bent is proving the perfect tonic for Spurs coach Juande Ramos following Robbie Keane's £20m move to Liverpool.
Bent struck in the 25th minute after a mistake by Paul Hartley - and could have had another.
