McCoist desperate for Boyd to stay

Ally McCoist has assured supporters that everyone at Rangers wants Kris Boyd to remain at the club just as much as they do.
But the Ibrox number two does not believe the loss of the striker in January would necessarily lead to the Scottish champions surrendering the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title.
"I hear all the fans saying they want Boydy to stay but I just hope that they appreciate we are the exact same," he said. "I'd love to see him stay at Rangers and hopefully break more records and continue the way he is at the moment."
The SPL's record goalscorer is out of contract at the end of the season and free to speak to other clubs this month, with Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan and former boss Alex McLeish at Birmingham reportedly interested in a January swoop.
Furious fans groups have warned of a revolt against season ticket sales if Boyd is sold but McCoist admits the club's hands could be tied if he fails to agree a new deal.
McCoist added: "We would be crazy if we didn't want to keep our top goalscorer. The man is on absolute fire at the moment.
"But the situation is quite simple - his contract is up and he can exercise the right to speak to other clubs or speak to us about re-signing.
"I can speak for the rest of the coaches and the management when I say we all want Kris to stay and hopefully we can sort out a deal."
