UEFA president Michel Platini has admitted that some large clubs will be allowed to build debt.
He has also promised to investigate sponsorship deals to make sure they adhere to the new Financial Fair Play Regulations, which could be bad news for Manchester City, following their £350million agreement with Etihad.
Platini said: “The fair play ruling does not foresee any measures being taken against clubs who have enormous debts such as Man United or Barcelona.
“That doesn’t worry me, if those clubs can repay what they owe.
“When you buy a house, you are obliged to go into debt, aren’t you?
“But the devil is in the details and our panel of financial experts will be rightly ordered to prevent deals from happening that are against the new regulations.”
