Gareth Southgate has paved the way for AWOL Boro star Mido's cut-price return to Egypt.
Mido's first club Zamalek will offer £2.5m for the striker, 26, who Southgate fined £100,000 for turning up a fortnight late for preseason training. Southgate said: "We know Mido would like to move and I'm sure it will happen."
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce, who had Mido on loan at Wigan last term, is weighing up an offer.
David Wheater, an £8m target for Aston Villa, returned from knee surgery in a 5-0 win at Dumbarton.
