Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan closing in on deal for French forward

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan is closing in on a deal for French striker Olivier Giroud - after sending his top spy to watch him last night.
Giroud has been banging in goals for Second Division side Tours this season and Strachan's talent-spotter Gordon McQueen flew over to run the rule over him yesterday.
The tall target man has had a breakthrough season and is keen to come to England. He is also wanted by Strachan's old club Celtic, adding more spice to the chase.
The 23-year-old is also on the wanted list of several clubs in France's top flight but his club would rather cash in on him with a move across the Channel in the January window.
