New Boro striker was Boyd by Rangers legend

Middlesbrough new boy Kris Boyd has revealed that working under Rangers legend Ally McCoist turned him into one of Scotland’s most fearsome strikers.

Boyd admits the influence of Rangers’ record goalscorer McCoist played a huge part in his development at Ibrox. Boyd said: “It was good to work with somebody of the stature of Ally McCoist. You always pick up things from people when you work with them in training every day.

“When you look at his goalscoring ratio, it was unbelievable – and he’s still got it in training now!

“That was a big help, when you see somebody at that age still with the drive and determination to win, even in training games.”
