Stoke bid for Boro player of the year

Stoke want to sign Middlesbrough’s Gary O’Neil and are offering Liam Lawrence in part-exchange.
Midfielder O’Neil, 27, was Boro’s player of the year last season in the Championship.
But the star, signed from Portsmouth in August 2007 for £5million, is keen on a return to the top-flight.
Potters boss Tony Pulis rates the box-to-box midfielder highly.
Pulis is willing to give Boro counterpart Gordon Strachan out-of-favour winger Lawrence, 28, as a sweetner to get his man.
Lawrence is set to leave the Britannia Stadium this summer after losing his first team spot.
But the Republic of Ireland ace would prefer a proposed move to Scottish giants Celtic.
