Everton's young striker James Vaughan is wanted on loan by Gareth Southgate's promotion-seeking Middlesbrough.
Vaughan could be on his way to the Championship outfit before the clash with Roy Keane's Ipswich as Southgate looks to improve his options after a clear-out.
The England Under-21 hitman has shaken off a knee problem that cost him a move to Newcastle before the deadline - with Boro now in pole position to take him.
Vaughan played for Everton in a closed-door game at the start of the week to prove his fitness and boss David Moyes is ready to give the move his blessing.
Boro want to pull a fast one on neighbours Newcastle who made an inquiry but have not followed it up - with Vaughan eager to go anywhere for action
