Gary Megson is reportedly weighing up whether to smash Bolton's transfer record for Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Miguel Veloso.
But he might have to shell out more than he bargained for after the Portuguese star's agent revealed that Manchester City are also snffing around.
"It is important to notice that Bolton are not alone. Manchester City have already shown interest in him," said Paulo Barbosa.
"Basically, what is happening now is that clubs are expecting to see what other clubs could offer, in order to make their own bid.
"He (Veloso) is not allowed to talk too much now about this subject but he is looking forward to seeing clubs reaching an agreement."
Here's what all the fuss is about:
1) Born on 11 May 1986 in Coimbra, Portugal, Miguel Luís Pinto Veloso is the son of former Benfica and Portugal defender Antónia Veloso.
2) He followed in his father's footsteps, starting off his playing career at Benfica, but then switched to rivals Sporting Lisbon at 14. Surely a recipe for some inter-family tension.
3) He began training with the Sporting first team in 2004 after training with the youth side for the previous five years.
4) He is 5ft 11in tall and weighs 12st 4lbs, and has been gathering a following of female fans, despite his dodgy mullet.
5) While his dad was usually a right back, Veloso junior usually plays a defensive midfield role, although he has been known to play as a left back (he is predominantly left-footed), after originally starting out as a centre back as a youngster.
6) Sporting loaned him out to Clube Desportivo Olivais e Moscavide for the 2005-06 season, where he was a key factor in earning the team promotion to the second division.
7) After his impressive spell on loan, he was recalled to the Sporting side in 2006, where he played in their opening Champion's League match against Inter Milan. He gave a man-of-the-match display, shutting out Luis Figo the Portugese superstar. He has now made over 50 appearances for Sporting, as well as seven for the Portugese national side, making his debut against Azerbaijan on October 13, 2007
8) He is rated for having a strong physical presence, strength in the air, an ability to read the game and his accurate passing. His powerful shot has led to a couple of spectacular goals - here is a taste of what he can do:
9) Portuguese national coach Luiz Felipe Scolari hit out at Veloso in 2007 after the player piled on a few pounds and got into the fashion scene, saying: "Those who like spending time at fashion shows and who have an overlarge butt will probably miss the bus to Austria and Switzerland." Veloso took note and earned his place in Euro 2008 for Portugal, although his only run out was in the second string loss to Switzerland.
10) He has previously been linked to a move to many English clubs: Arsenal, Bolton, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Tottenham. He has stated "If a great offer came from England it would be impossible to turn it down".
The proof of that particular pudding should come at some point this week.
