Neil Woods thanked Grimsby's players for getting him the manager's job.
Caretaker Woods takes the role full-time after edging out ex-boss Russell Slade and Leicester coach Gerry Taggart.
Woods, 43, took over at the League Two strugglers after Mike Newell was axed last month.
The Mariners remain in drop zone, two points adrift of safety, and the former Town striker said: "The players have worked really hard and I can't ask for any more than that.
"They've responded to what we've tried to do and their attitude has been fantastic."
