Steve Morison fluffed his lines as Millwall wasted a host of chances on a frustrating night at the New Den.
The striker hoped to increase his tally of five goals in six games, but found Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici unbeatable.
Morison should have put the hosts in front nine minutes before the break, but Federici tipped his curling effort wide of the post.
The Aussie then pulled off a point-blank stop from the forward minutes later.
The Lions continued to dominate after the interval, but Reading went closest as David Forde kept out Shane Long’s header and Jem Karacan smashed against a post.
