New Swans boss has the Jose hotline

Brendan Rodgers was mentored by Jose ­Mourinho – and knows he can call on the ‘Special One’ for advice after taking over as Swansea boss.

Rodgers, 37, forged his ­reputation as youth and reserve team coach under Mourinho at Chelsea.

And the Ulsterman, who has signed a 12-month rolling contract with the Swans, said: “I will always have a link with Jose.

“I can pick up the phone to him, I can text him and he replies very quickly.

“If I need advice, I know he’ll be there.

“He was great for me as he helped nurture my career. But I don’t have Jose’s film-star looks or his bank account.

“I have been waiting for my opportunity and Swansea ticks all the right boxes.”
