Newcastle are giving Spurs a dose of their own medicine by rejecting a £10m offer for Sebastien Bassong

It seems that Spurs are getting a taste of their own medicine with Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong.
Bought for just £500,000 from French club Metz last summer, Bassong has become all the rage with both the north Londoners and Manchester City after him.
Which is why Newcastle know that they can afford to reject Tottenham's £10million bid for him. Spurs will be back.
Somehow, they managed to negotiate a deal with Sunderland believed to be in the region of a staggering £15million for Darren Bent - a striker they didn't want. A striker they jerked around, despite him scoring 17 goals last season.
Yet Peter Crouch, a striker that they clearly believe to be superior, went to White Hart Lane for just £9million from Portsmouth. Harry Redknapp arguing that the beanpole marksman is getting on a bit and wanted to leave Fratton Park anyway.
Spurs can't, however, have things both ways, which is presumably why Newcastle are playing hardball.
