Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins desperate to leave the club

Obafemi Martins is desperate to leave the chaos at Newcastle and join German champions Wolfsburg.

The Bundesliga side have registered an interest in the former Inter Milan striker and he is attracted by the prospect of playing in Germany.

He said: "The Bundesliga is on the up and could soon become one of the best in the world, that's why I am keen on joining a side that has recently become champions of that division.

"I hope this transfer is going to be pushed through really soon."
