Adam ready to give Dalglish selection headache

Charlie Adam is ready to give Kenny Dalglish a major headache after finally landing his dream £7m move to Liverpool.
The Scottish midfielder signed on the dotted line this week to ease his fears of missing out on a place in the Reds side.
Adam, 25, was concerned Dalglish would not follow up his January interest, when Liverpool were knocked back with a £6.5m offer.
But after being snapped up by the Anfield outfit, Adam is gearing up to prove his doubters wrong by shining in the big-time.
Former Blackpool team-mate Luke Varney is convinced the left-footed playmaker has the ability and determination to make the most of his chance.
He said: “He is still a young man and Charlie is very ambitious. I feel he will do well at Liverpool.
“It’s true Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson are already there and able to play in the middle of the park, along with people like Lucas.
“But Charlie will go in there and give Kenny Dalglish a headache because he will want to play every week – and when he gets the chance, he is determined enough to take it.”
Varney scored five goals for Blackpool during a loan spell last season, with most of them coming from Adam’s pinpoint passes.
And he dismisses the notion his pal will flounder at Liverpool because, unlike at Blackpool, the team is not going to be built around him.
He added: “People have to stop thinking Charlie has just popped up on the radar because of his years at Blackpool. He has been at a massive club in Rangers and played Champions League football. He knows what to do.
“It’s a big move but he can handle it. He has a good temperament to cope with what he faces.
“And he certainly has the ability. His passing is superb and he is a goal-scorer as well.”
In fact, Adam scored 13 goals and claimed nine assists in 36 games as Blackpool were relegated last season.
Varney added: “With quality players around him, like he will have at Liverpool, he will only improve there.”
Striker Varney has also left Blackpool following the end of his loan spell, signing for Portsmouth from Derby in a £750,000 deal.
He said: “I came down here and Steve Cotterill really impressed me. He has great drive and really wants to get this club promoted.
“I really feel working with Steve is going to help improve me.”
