Forest to rescue Brown from Portsmouth limbo

Billy Davies is ready to offer Michael Brown an escape route from his nightmare at Portsmouth.
The Nottingham Forest boss has targeted Brown for a loan switch as he steps up his bid to bring in precious Championship experience.
Brown, 34, has not played for Pompey since December because of a contract clause that triggers a one-year extension if he makes even one more appearance.
Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill has been forced to freeze out the former Sheffield United midfielder after he refused to take a paycut. Now Davies wants to take Brown for the rest of the season to add leadership to his promotion-chasers' dressing room.
Forest slipped to a first defeat in 11 games at Scunthorpe on Wednesday and Davies has told his side to go on another unbeaten run if they want to reach the Premier League.
He said: “It is effectively a 16-game season now and what we need is another good run like the one we have just been on.”
