Notts County hope to announce the shock signing of Sol Campbell this week.
Former England defender Campbell, 34, a free agent after leaving Portsmouth, held further talks with the ambitious League Two club yesterday.
Campbell has been offered a player/coach and ambassadorial role with the club and a three-year contract, as first revealed in Mirror Sport.
Ex-Arsenal and Tottenham defender Campbell has met with County director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson - his former England manager - and boss Ian McParland and sees it as a way into coaching.
Campbell, who has also had offers from Newcastle and Hull, is now weighing up the offer but County are confident of landing their man which would be Eriksson’s most prestigious signing since his own shock arrival at the club.
