Opinion: Why Blackburn should hurry up and appoint Paul Ince
Published 14:59 19/06/08 By By Darren Lewis
It seems as though the board at Blackburn are enjoying their moment in the sun a little bit too much for my liking.
The race for the manager's job looked like - and has been - a shoe-in for Paul Ince ever since the starters pistol went off a few weeks ago.
Since then, however, they have turned it into a bigger dog's dinner than anything likely to be worn by a middle-aged Doris at Royal Ascot this week.
The world and his wife knows that Paul Ince is the favourite and the outstanding candidate. But Rovers chairman John Williams has persisted with interviewing Sam Allardyce and Steve McClaren - both men that the fans do not want.
It has been a waste of their time, your time and our newsprint.
But today, just as we prepare for the big announcement that the waiting is over and that Ince is to be named, we learn that they have interviewed the Getafe manager Michael Laudrup and that he is in the frame.
For the love of.,. What are they trying to prove? That the job of bossing mid-table, never-gonna-achieve-anything Blackburn was the most sought after in Europe?
Do they think they are Real Madrid or that Chelsea, and that bosses have been trampled in the rush trying to get the job that Mark Hughes didn't want?
Please. Just. Give. Ince. The. Job. So. That. We. Can. All. Move. On.
We are getting really bored with it now...
