Rice agrees to stay on at Arsenal for another season

Arsene Wenger has ­secured his first major move of the summer after his No.2 Pat Rice announced he will be staying at ­Arsenal for another season.

Rice, 62, has played a ­major role behind the scenes at the north London club and has been Wenger’s assistant since he took charge back in 1996.

There were major ­concerns that Rice would leave his position as his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Wenger said: “He’s told me he will continue for one more year.

“It is important for me ­because he knows how I work. We have a good ­understanding and he ­compliments me.”
