Harry Redknapp hopes to sign two new players before the transfer window closes on Monday and Freddie Ljungberg could be one.
The Portsmouth boss said: "I am looking for one or two players who can do something different. The right hand side is an area where we could do with someone. Ljungberg would be a good free signing."
Redknapp, whose side are bottom of the Premier League, is sweating on the fitness of England striker Jermain Defoe ahead of tomorrow's trip to Everton.
The former Spurs star has been hit with a bug but is expected to be fit for England duty next week.
