Portsmouth boss Paul Hart will step up his attempts to sign Mark Viduka and Amr Zaki - after being left with only 12 fit outfield players.
Hart wants former Wigan striker Zaki, 26, on loan and free agent Viduka, 33, after missing out to Blackburn for top target Nikola Kalinic.
Pompey are in desperate need of reinforcements as new-boy Steve Finnan, David Nugent and Richard Hughes have joined Hermann Hreidarsson and Papa Bouba Diop on the sicklist following their pre-season Portugal tour.
Hart, who has also seen stars including Peter Crouch, Glen Johnson and Sol Campbell leave the club this summer, said: "We have not signed many players yet.
"We are looking at a lot of players but strikers are important. We have got a lot of targets and we are whittling them down."
