Manchester City manager Mark Hughes will monitor Richard Dunne's fitness ahead of the Premier League match against Liverpool on Sunday.
Republic of Ireland central defender Dunne was forced to sit out the UEFA Cup victory over AC Omonia last night because of a hamstring problem.
Martin Petrov has recovered from a similar problem and is pushing for a place in the starting line-up after coming off the bench.
Provisional squad: Hart, Zabaleta, Richards, Dunne, Ben Haim, Garrido, Ball, Elano, Kompany, Ireland, Hamann, Fernandes, Petrov, Wright-Phillips, Robinho, Jo, Schmeichel, Evans, Sturridge, Glauber, Etuhu.
Liverpool team news
Javier Mascherano is expected to return to Liverpool's starting line-up for the match at Manchester City on Sunday, having been rested for the midweek Champions League win over PSV Eindhoven.
Manager Rafael Benitez left Mascherano on the bench against the Dutch side in preparation for the trip to Eastlands.
Ryan Babel picked up a minor leg injury in the match while Fernando Torres suffered a bruised calf - but both are expected to be available for the trip to face Mark Hughes' outfit.
Liverpool bid to extend a run of only one defeat - against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final in April - in their last 22 matches, stretching back to March.
Provisional squad: Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Agger, Hyypia, Skrtel, Aurelio, Dossena, Babel, Gerrard, Mascherano, Alonso, Benayoun, Riera, Torres, Kuyt, Keane, Lucas, Cavalieri.
