Neil Warnock is ready to save Dave Kitson from his Stoke nightmare with a £2million bid.
QPR boss Warnock wants to offer Kitson an escape route as he bids to power up his promotion challenge at Loftus Road.
Kitson has been training with the Potters youth team this summer will be allowed to quit the Britannia Stadium.
He was the club’s record buy of £5.5m two seasons ago but Tony Pulis is prepared to cut his losses on the former Reading star.
Portsmouth and Leeds have also targeted the 30-year-old for a loan deal, but QPR want to make the move permanent.
Warnock ironically missed out on Jon Walters to Stoke last week but will step up his bid to land Kitson before the window closes.
He said: “It’s disappointing as Walters has been my number one target now for a long time.
“But we move on and we have to look to get somebody else.
“We have to look to improve. In fairness the front three are all doing very well at the moment but we are very thin on the ground regarding the squad numbers and regarding the strikers.”
