James McArthur is "ready" to take the Barclays Premier League by storm, according to Hamilton boss Billy Reid.
Reid on Wednesday confirmed Accies were in talks with more than one club over the sale of star man McArthur, revealing he had already lined up potential replacements for the 22-year-old midfielder.
"He's earned the right to go and play at a so-called bigger club at a higher level," Reid said.
McArthur, who has previously been linked with moves to Spain and Holland, is reportedly on the radar of Premier League strugglers Hull.
He is keen on a move south and were he to leave during the transfer window, he would join former team-mates James McCarthy and Brian Easton in England.
Hamilton sold the latter duo to Wigan and Burley, respectively, during the summer but they have so far failed to become first-team regulars.
Reid reckons the pair left New Douglas Park a year too soon but insists McArthur is ready to make the step up.
He added: "I think he's ready. I did say that the two lads who left the club, it may be a bit too soon for them, a year too soon. It's not a year too soon for James McArthur.
"He's obviously got 150-170 games in senior football, so he's prepared to go and play at a higher level."
