Rangers boss knew nothing about captain Weir's Royal Wedding shirt message

Rangers captain David Weir paid his own tribute to the Royal couple yesterday - and his manager Walter Smith insisted he knew nothing about it.
Weir had the slogan ‘Congratulations William & Catherine 29th April 2011’ embroidered on his shirt as Rangers won 5-0 at Motherwell.
Smith said afterwards: “I didn’t know it was there. Sorry, I can’t enlighten you at all. It must have been the kit man.”
Technically it is in breach of FIFA regulations, which prevent players from making religious, political or personal statements.
