Saint and Greavsie: The footy pundits' top 10 moments

1. The Saint and Greavsie show was born out of the pair's successful stint as pundits for the On the Ball segment of ITV's World of Sport.

2. Never short of an opinion, here Greavsie has a now legendary on-air spat with ITV presenter Gary Newbon.

3. The Saint and Greavsie show first hit our screens in 1985. Below is the show's famous theme tune, a track originally used for ITV's World Cup '86 coverage.

4. Football veterans they may have been, but the pair were certainly on the ball during the video game revolution. Here we see the title screen of the ZX Spectrum game that bore their name. Suggestions that it rivalled Street Fighter IV for excitement may well be somewhat wide of the mark.

5. Here we see the lads in a vintage finger-licking advert, extolling the virtues of KFC - a dietary must for any aspiring footballer.

6. Fast forward to six minutes into this clip for a mid-eighties episode of the show, complete with Jimmy's trademark baiting of Scottish goalkeeping talent.

7. Cementing their place as icons of the era, the pair were immortalised in latex as Spitting Image puppets, with the show regularly having a dig at Greavsie's overuse of his "It's A Funny Old Game" catchphrase.

8. Saint and Greavsie wasn't just restricted to footy, with the show embracing many other sports.

In a piece of YouTube gold, here we see Jimmy taking on British World of Sport wrestling legend Kendo Nagasaki.

9. Despite owing them something of a debt, Saint and Greavsie became regular targets for Frank Skinner and David Baddiel's Fantasy Football show.

10. While Ian St John lambasted Skinner and Baddiel in his autobiography for showing them a lack of respect, Greavsie appeared to take the ribbing in his stride, sending himself up for their Phoenix From the Flames feature.
