Liverpool legend Sammy Lee reported in at the club's Melwood training complex this morning to start his new role as Rafa Benitez's number two.
The 49-year-old's appointment comes following the departures of former Assistant Manager Pako Ayesteran at the start of last season, and first team coach Alex Miller, who took up a management role in Japan earlier this month.
As well as winning a string of honours as a player at Anfield in the '80s, Lee has also previously served as reserve coach under Graeme Souness and first team coach under Gerard Houllier.
Lee also enjoyed a brief stint as manager of Bolton, replacing Sam Allardyce at the end of the 2006/07 season. He was sacked last October following the club's disappointing start to the Premier League campaign.
