Shaun Wright-Phillips believes he can smile his way back into the England team after escaping his Chelsea nightmare.

The former England winger returned to his old club Manchester City yesterday in a £9million switch .

Wright-Phillips, 26, said: "Chelsea was a tough time for me. I always gave it my best, it was just that I had limited chances.

"I'm delighted to be back home. I couldn't stop smiling all the way up here. England is a huge factor in me coming here but my main aim is to get back playing football with City, do the best I can and get a run of games."
