Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 Norwich: Marcus Tudgay seals it for Owls

Brian Laws admitted fearing he had blundered by committing his future to Sheffield Wednesday during this topsy-turvy game.

Worries about signing a new three-year deal that will keep him with the Owls until 2011 surfaced following a spineless first-half showing by his men.

Norwich keeper David Marshall hardly touched the ball and Sammy Clingan put the visitors ahead with a penalty after Marcus Tudgay fouled Wes Hoolahan.

Wednesday were booed off at half-time and with the fog thickening, Laws could be forgiven for joining home fans in hoping referee Tony Bates might call off the game.

But after some choice words from Laws in the dressing room, and the introduction of Sean McAllister who provided legs in midfield, the hosts ran the show in the second-half to secure a memorable win.

Laws said: "After the first half I wondered what had I done? But the second-half showed it was worthwhile.

"I need some heart tablets. It turned out to be an entertaining game, but we were rubbish in the first-half.

"Norwich deserved their lead, we weren't on our game, and that set the atmosphere, it was like a morgue out there.

"I was so glad to get them in at half-time and give out some rollockings.

"I wanted a reaction and we got one with that early goal. You could see that belief come back."

That goal came from Tony McMahon in the 50th minute and Leon Clarke doubled the Owls' lead five minutes later.

Leroy Lita levelled for the Canaries just after the hour, but Wednesday were not to be denied and a Tudgay header secured all three points.

Norwich finished the game with 10 men following Jon Kennedy's late dismissal.
