Sir Alex Ferguson joins child car seat safety campaign after grandson injured in crash

Sir Alex Ferguson yesterday joined a child car seat safety campaign following his grandson Charlie's narrow escape in road smash.
The 10-year-old had head, lung and spine injuries when mum Nadine's car was in a collision last month.
But the Manchester United boss, 67, revealed the lad, now out of danger, was so badly hurt because he'd slipped his seatbelt off his shoulder.
Sir Alex said: "Children prefer a belt on their lap so something should be done to improve safety awareness.
"I'm telling everyone I know to make sure their kids wear their belts properly."
But the AA also said twothirds of child seats are not fitted securely. So he is backing their campaign, with car seat maker Britax and Mothercare, as part of Child Safety Week starting today.
Nadine, 30, divorced from Sir Alex's son, Peterborough manager Darren, and daughter Grace, six, escaped the crash with lesser injuries.
