Spurs fans should stop the slurs on Sol...NOW

Depression hit FSF Towers this week - and nothing to do with the current banking fiasco.
We're still reeling from the verbal assault on Pompey centre-half Sol Campbell by supporters of his former club Spurs at Fratton Park last Sunday.
Sol could reasonably expect Tottenham fans not to have been happy about his free transfer to Arsenal in 2001. He could reasonably expect Spurs fans to express their views on this robustly.
But seven years on, old wounds should now be healing. Yet the reverse appears to have happened.
Just so everybody's clear, the "song" being sung by all too many visiting Spurs fans suggested that Sol was going mad, should commit suicide and has HIV, the virus that leads to AIDS. Previously, Sol has had to endure unpleasant songs about his sexuality. This "ditty" takes that to a new level.
At the FSF we neither know nor care anything about Sol's sexual preferences. That's a matter for him.
Straight, gay, bi - if it feels good, do it, we say.
Compounding the offence, we hear that some alleged Spurs 'fans' have been posting videos of the song on YouTube.
Guys (and overwhelmingly it will be guys), it's not bigandit's not clever. It's against the law and against football ground regulations. Campbell deserves - and should expect - respect.
We don't want football grounds to become arid, politically-correct deserts. Have a laugh, have a pop. But cutout this vile abuse-NOW!
Memo to Tottenham, Pompey, the police, the Premier League and FA, it is time for action-NOW!
