Stewart Downing will be allowed to leave Middlesbrough for £10m

Stewart Downing is set to get the green light to complete a £10million move away from Middlesbrough.
The England winger, wanted by Spurs and Liverpool, is expected to resume training following an operation on his broken foot last month. Downing should be able to prove his fitness before the transfer deadline at the end of August and give Middlesbrough a much-needed windfall.
Boro boss Gareth Southgate said: "We're very pleased with Stewart's progress. He underwent a serious foot operation but he is determined to come back stronger and fitter as soon as he possibly can."
