Tony Pulis will hold talks with disgruntled Turkey striker Tuncay after he stormed off the pitch in a rage in a row over being substituted.
Tuncay was sent on after 81 minutes, but hauled off seven minutes later in a tactical reshuffle following Abdoulaye Faye’s sending off.
And the former Boro star was livid, stomping off down the tunnel, with Pulis conceding the player’s “pride“ had been hurt.
Pulis said: “I understand why he was upset. It is pride and everything that goes with it. I am aware of his feelings it is not about him or me it is about the team.
“I am not concerned about one individual, I am concerned about the team but I will have a chat with him about it and explain the reasons. Yes, Tuncay was angry with it. But it wouldn’t stop me doing it again.”
Pulis was angry at Faye’s sending off. Replays showed his second yellow card was harsh, and his tackle did not make contact with Nicky Barmby.
Pulis added: “I am disappointed with the two bookings. The second one. looking at the replay. he has not caught Barmby at all. We are disappointed. It is the third time we have led away from home and not won the game. We were not at our best.
“Thomas should have done better for the second goal.”
