Tony Pulis has pledged to rip his Stoke squad apart and make wholesale changes for tonight’s Carling Cup clash at Portsmouth.
Pulis is ready to rest at least EIGHT of the Potters heroes that stunned Harry Redknapp’s Spurs on Saturday, including James Beattie, Ryan Shawcross, Abdoulaye Faye and Danny Collins.
Tuncay – a £6million summer signing from Middlesbrough – is expected to make his second start, while Uruguayan midfielder Diego Arismendi, Danny Higginbotham and Leon Cort will also feature. Pulis said: “We’ve had a fantastic result at Spurs but I will make massive changes.
“We’ve got good players who haven’t been starting in the league and this is a chance for them. There is a long, hard season ahead for us and they need to play.
“The Carling Cup is very important to us and we want to progress. This is a chance for the players who have patiently waited for their chance to show me what they can do.”
Malian striker Mamady Sidibe could play for Stoke the first time since March after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.
