Premier League new boys Stoke are planning a £2million swoop for Wigan midfielder Michael Brown.
And Potters boss Tony Pulis is favourite to land the 31-year-old former Manchester City, Sheffield United and Tottenham star ahead of Steve Coppell's Reading.
He's also beaten Coppell to the signature of Wolves midfielder Seyi Olofinjana. The Nigerian international completed a £3million signing last night.
Brown cost the Latics £3m from Fulham 12 months ago, and made 34 appearances for the JJB outfit last season.
But, even though he played a major role in helping Steve Bruce's side dodge relegation, he is being squeezed out of Bruce's first-team plans by the summer arrivals of Daniel de Ridder and Olivier Kapo from Birmingham.
