West Ham winger Matt Etherington is on his way to Stoke for £3.5million.
Etherington, 27, is keen to revive his career after falling out of favour at Upton Park because of a gambling addiction.
He was loaned £300,000 by West Ham this season to pay off his debts.
The former Tottenham star has sought help for his problems and wants to make a fresh start.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis is happy to give Etherington - who spent time in the Sporting Chance rehab clinic in Hampshire - that opportunity.
Stoke are also set to snap up Wigan striker Henri Camara for £1m - once Latics boss Steve Bruce ties up the loose ends in the deal for £4.5m Colombia striker Hugo Rodallega.
