Tony Pulis has revealed Harry Redknapp told him to take Eidur Gudjohnsen to Stoke on loan.
Gudjohnsen completed a move from Monaco as part of a frantic last-minute signing spree by Pulis.
The ex-Chelsea star, 31, spent the second half of last season on loan at Redknapp’s Tottenham and Pulis said: “Harry told me he is a top player. Had they not got four top-drawer strikers he would have taken him.”
Pulis also snapped up Jermaine Pennant on loan from Real Zaragoza and Portsmouth’s Marc Wilson in a swap deal with Dave Kitson and Liam Lawrence.
