Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will make a £4million January raid on his old club Wigan for Honduras World Cup left-back Maynor Figueroa.
Bruce is planning to snap up the defender he took to the Latics - and the player is aware of the interest and is keen on the move.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez does not want to lose Figueroa, who is currently nursing knee ligament damage from a weekend injury. But Wigan have already begun a search for a possible successor.
