Steve Bruce has confirmed that Grant Leadbitter and Carlos Edwards are set to join Ipswich today.
The Sunderland boss has agreed a fee with Roy Keane for two of his fringe players, but Daryl Murphy and Nyron Nosworthy are not yet part of the deal and are attracting interest with Hull interested in Murphy.
Sunderland have ended their interest in Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin because they have been put off by the £6.5million fee for the 32 year-old.
Bruce said this morning: “I will be delighted to see the back of the window. It is a pain. There will be some comings and goings. How many, we will see. I did not envisage I would be so busy, but we have offers for Grant and Carlos to Ipswich.”
Sunderland will add Lyon defender John Mensah to their squad this weekend. He is in Paris waiting for the British Embassy to stamp his visa, and he wants one more in by Tuesday.
