Sunderland keeper Marton Fulop wants to be top Black Cat

Marton Fulop has told Steve Bruce he is ready to be Sunderland’s permanent No.1.
The Hungarian keeper gets his chance against Arsenal at the weekend because Scotland international Craig Gordon has broken his arm and is out for three months.
Fulop was relegated to the bench after a lengthy run in the side last season, when Gordon hit form, but he has signaled his determination to stay in the first team because he doesn’t want to earn “easy money".
He said: “I don’t think the manager has decided yet who his number one is.
“The more games you get, the more chances you get to impress and I hope we get a good result against Arsenal now and I can play my part.
“I definitely don’t think the manager needs to bring in a new goalkeeper. Sunderland have three good goalkeepers - I include Trevor Carson as well. Craig is Scotland’s number one and a very good goalkeeper, and I am an international as well.
“All three of us want to prove to him that there is no need to sign another goalkeeper.
“It’s not nice on the bench. You are here to play. I have never been someone who is willing to sit on the bench and pick up my wages.
“That would be easy money but I have always wanted to work hard and to prove to my family, my friends and my team-mates that I’m a good goalkeeper. I think in the long-term that attitude brings you rewards. You will get what you deserve.”
