Police have revealed that Nicklas Bendtner was arrested last September following a fight in a luxury Tyneside hotel.
The Chronicle reports that Arsenal striker, currently on loan at Sunderland, was held after police were called to an early hours incident at the Gateshead Hilton. However, the Dane was released without charges following an investigation.
A police spokesman said: “At 2.18am on Thursday, September 13, police received a report of a fight at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead.
“Officers attended and two men aged 23 were arrested to prevent continued breach of the peace. After investigations, both men were released without charge.”
Sunderland AFC have so far refused to comment on the matter.
It's Bendtner's second high-profile brush with the law since joining the Black Cats on loan in the summer. Last month the striker and team-mate Lee Cattermole were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after cars were damaged in Newcastle city centre.
Bendtner subsequently apologised to the club and its fans.
