Sunderland told to up £12million Darren Bent bid

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has made a club record £12million bid for Darren Bent - but Tottenham are holding out for £16m.
Bruce tabled a new offer for the England striker yesterday and wants a quick answer as he starts his serious planning for the new season.
Ambitious Bruce also wants Portsmouth front man Peter Crouch, and is unhappy that he has signed neither target a month into his new job.
Spurs supremo Daniel Levy is keen to get his money back on Bent, who arrived from Charlton two years ago for £16.5m.
Bent would get a rise and first-team football with the Black Cats, but has doubts about a move to the north east.
