Sunderland captain leaves for Turkey

Sunderland skipper Lorik Cana has joined Galatasaray for £5m.

The 26-year-old joined the Black Cats last summer on a four-year contract for £5m from Marseille and was instantly made captain by manager Steve Bruce, making 31 appearances.

Bruce said: “Lorik’s style of play and attitude made him a natural choice as captain last season, but when he came back for pre-season training, it was apparent that he had a desire to return to Europe.”
