Sven Goran Eriksson's basic salary at Notts County is only £250,000-a-year - making his decision to go there even more surprising.
Former England manager Eriksson, 61, stunned world football by becoming League Two County's director of football last month.
The Swede has signed a five-year contract with the lowly Magpies and it was widely assumed Eriksson was a huge deal.
But Mirrorsport has learned Eriksson, who has been given a shareholding in County, is actually only earning a basic salary of £4,800-a-week.
With bonuses to reward success, Eriksson could eventually end up taking home up to £1million gross a year.
But that would entail County winning the title and include Eriksson hitting targets off the field too.
These include rewarding the number of homegrown youth players introduced into the first team.
